So the other day I randomly drove by to check up on my s13 hatchback and saw that the console leds/small lights were on. The keys were in the ignition and turned to ign. None of the doors were locked. I think one of his family members tried to start a manual without holding down the clutch.

The car could have easily been stolen.

I had left that key with my friend Peter since I was leaving the car at his place. He would need the keys in case it needed to be moved so I didn't hesitate to give it to him. Now having seen first hand how they are taking care of it I will need to find another place to stash the car. I'm about to just insure just to get plates and a state inspection.

I always seem to know what's best for everyone else but never for myself.

I don't know if by sticking to my guns will solve anything.

March 14th will be my exodus - even if its just for a week. I am leaving my phone off until that Friday.

I bought a new car. Part of the reason why I couldn't really work on my coupe was due to the fact that I needed it on the road.

The car is somewhat molested but the chassis is in beautiful shape. Frame is straight and not a lick of rust on it. It's a 1992 240sx hatchback. With no sunroof, no power windows, no hatch wiper, and no cruise control I'm gonna guess that this baby is a base model.

I bought the car from my friend Ryan who had picked it up 2 years ago when he was in North Carolina. The engine croaked as he was driving up to Massachusetts. He towed it the rest of the way and was determined to rebuild the engine. Once he finished the car, he decided it was time to move down to Texas to be closer to his family. He was in a rush to sell it to make it down for the holidays. He sold it to me for 400 bucks and headed down to Allen, TX.

Ryan meant well when he put all the labor and time into the car but bluntly speaking, he did a poor job in rebuilding the engine and maintaining the car. He had overhauled the head with new internals and bought a new s14 block while in New York.

The engine is misfiring and is running on 3 cylinders. The clutch is slipping and gear engagement is iffy. Oil is leaking from the pan and clutch is leaking like whoa. Dome light and clock is shorted out. Windshield fluid reservoir was poorly relocated. Surface rust was beginning to set in in the spare tire wheel well.

Here are some photos.

This was taken before the snow hit and a week before I decided to buy the car.

Here it is braving the Boston cold weather.

The hatch was littered with junk.

The shit you find in a new used car...

And lookie what I found in the glove as I was stripping the interior, a pocket Karma Sutra book...

What I've done thus far

- removed all seats, swapped upper portion of passenger over to driverside (drive seat is the only one in the car atm.
- removed paneling
- replaced all the sidemarkers
- replaced windshield wiper resevoir
- replaced fuse box
- replaced all fuses o_0
- replaced ebrake boot
- sealed taillights
- found missing ground and got interior dome light and clock working (thanks david) M57 and M101

Here are a few small things left to be done
- replace headlights turn signals and taillights- replace all the bulbs in the car
- bleed clutch
- remove sound deafening and weld oem frame holes
- paint interior- rewire interior cabin harness
- relocate battery- replace the windshield
- replace dash and vents
- and much much more....

Cost thus far..
$21 misc junkyard parts
$20 used oem taillights
$120 se 7-spoke wheels

The car is now at Peter's place. I got a ticket for parking on the street with no inspection sticker so I had to get it off of the road. His folks are cool as hell and let me keep the car in their big ass driveway. Just waiting patiently for the weather to get warmer...

One Year Ago

One Year Ago

One year ago, I was optimistic, joyful, in good holiday spirits, and in love. I can't say the same for this year so much. I grow more and more bitter with each passing day and with each new experience.

Work is picking up. My spare time is spent working on the new car. Hope the new year brings with it some good news.
